Catholic during coronavirus

Image
Since the beginning of the coronavirus shutdown, eating was never banned, only eating out in restaurants. Talking and writing were never banned, only restricted to the bare essentials in public places. Praying was never banned, only praying in groups in public places. Listening to music was never banned, only going to public concerts. Drinking alcohol was never banned, only drinking at public bars. And get this: masses were never banned, only public masses.  As Catholics, we believe that the Holy Mass is the most important prayer. Jesus's sacrifice on the cross is what saved the world and Holy Mass is the continuation of that sacrifice. The continuation, not the repetition, as protestants think, (there is a difference) of that sacrifice. On the night that he instituted the sacrament of the Eucharist, Jesus said: "Do this in memory of me." That's a direct order, and it's in the Bible. God made himself man and came to earth to save us from sin, but He doesn't ju...

Alternative medicine

It's impossible to get mainstream healthcare (unless it's a real emergency) in this province, so I've decided to go the alternative health care route. Okay, that's not the only reason, I also really prefer natural, less invasive methods to some of the mainstream medical practices. I really appreciated my mid-wife when I had my last child. I will never go back to a hospital for childbrth. I know a girl who took her son to a chiropractor when he had an earache and it fixed the problem. I'd forgotten that, until I came across something recently written by another woman who regularly takes her daughter to a chiropractor for health care. I decided to look chiropractors and earaches up on the internet and came across this . Ear pain is the number one reason for child visits to chiropractors. Many chiropractors believe that there is a strong link between the birthing process and recurrent ear infection, also known as otitis media. During the birthing process, cervical (nec...

Freakin' Health System

Gotta love the health system here. We have 4 or 5 drop-in clinics. I have two boys with ear infections right now. I call the clinic closest to home at about 7:45. The message tells me that the clinic is only open at 9:00. So I call back at 9:00. At 9:00, I get a message telling me that the clinic is compete for today, no spots are available, please call back tomorrow from 8:00. What the h@#%!!! So I call all the other clinics and they are ALL already full, no spots available! Already all full, at 9:00 am. Where are all the doctors? Maybe I should just drive the 45 minutes to the border and pay to see an american doctor? It would probably take me less time to drive the 45 minutes, see the doctor and drive back, than to sit in the hospital all day. It is always pretty much the same, and it must be worse now that everyone is freaking out over H1N1. I don't want to try out the hospital. If you can go there and wait 6 hours in the waiting room wiht no H1N1, I shudder to think what it mu...

Obama approves EMRYONIC stem cell research

Adult stem cell research, which has proven effective and useful in the treatment of many ailments to date, was already approved and was supported by Bush. Embryonic stem cell reasearch on the other hand, is unethical, and to date, has offered no results. http://www.proudtobecanadian.ca/index/weblog/16899/ In a nutshell: CBC’s reporter Paul Hunter misleads Canadians re EMBRYONIC stem cell research Written by Joel Johannesen Read Comments/Make Comments (There's 0 so far) Either he’s stupid or he’s purposely lying to Canadians. Sadly this is the choice at CBC today, and at any of the left-wing media, which seem to have an agenda. And it’s important that we consider the ramifications of a taxpayer-funded state-owned news media which employs stupid and/or deceitful reporters and staff who seem to be leading an agenda and swaying opinions. This is my opinion. After live coverage on the CBC of President Obama signing an executive order allowing federal funding for EMBRYONIC stem cel...

Human Dignity - Commentary by Chuck Colsen

http://www.breakpoint.org/listingarticle.asp?ID=10772 But, if the answer to the question, “Where do we come from?” is “We were created by God,” then the implications are truly staggering. If in fact we were created in God’s image; if in fact, as we celebrated yesterday at Christmas, God in Christ became human, took on human flesh, sharing our very DNA, then every human life, from natural conception through natural death, is endowed with eternal and incomprehensible worth. I like Chuck Colsen's commentaries.

What Abortion Clinics don't want you to know

October Surprise: Autism linked to Abortion Brent Rooney ( MSc; email: http:/// ) In the 15 October 2008 McCain/Obama debate AUTISM was mentioned at the beginning and at the end of the debate. Dr. Darios Getahun ( http:/// Kaiser Permanente) and colleagues have identified stressors for risks to newborns such as infection ('chorioamnionitis'), fetal distress, premature birth etc.[Getahun, 1] [URL: http:/// ] One of the stressors listed by Getahun is a prior induced abortion. Three times as many families are affected by the serious behavioral problems of autistic children than the number of families affectedby CP (Cerebral Palsy). Male infants have higher autism risk than do female infants; gastrointestinal problems are a likely autism risk factor. Whether vaccinations elevate autistic risk is not a settled issue; for vaccination warnings, visit http:/// . There is evidence than metal poisoning (e.g.s. mercury, lead) raises autistic risk. Estimates of the prevalence of autism...

Doctors must always have right to follow conscience

Susan Martinuk Calgary Herald Friday, August 22, 2008 (Just doing the copy - paste kind of blogging again, but these people know better than me what they are talking about...) Some 2,500 years ago, doctors were both healers and killers. Abortion and euthanasia were commonplace, and the type of medical service rendered depended on who was paying the bill or how the 'payee' asked the 'doctor' to take care of the patient. That ended in 400 BC, when a Greek physician named Hippocrates decided that patients deserved better and wrote an oath to affirm the sanctity of life and the doctor's duty to protect it. Doctors who took the Hippocratic oath could then offer patients an element of trust and care that was previously non-existent and, for obvious reasons, Hippocratic physicians became the physicians of choice. Well-known anthropologist Margaret Mead commented on this marked shift in the physician's role by saying, "For the first time in our tradition there was ...

Forcing our doctors' hands

http://www.nationalpost.com/todays_paper/story.html?id=730473&p=2 Lorne Gunter, National Post Published: Monday, August 18, 2008 One of the best-known aid organizations in the world is Medecins Sans Frontieres -- Doctors Without Borders. It may soon be joined by a similar group operating within Canada's largest province -- Medecins Sans Conscience -- Doctors Without Consciences. If the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) gets its way, Ontario's doctors will soon be stripped of their right to follow their moral convictions or religious beliefs when treating patients. In other words, doctors will risk losing their licenses if they run afoul of Ontario's human rights police. If, out of moral conviction, they refuse to perform abortions, refer patients for abortions or prescribe morning-after and birth control pills, or if they refuse to help same-sex couples conceive children, their own governing body will take away their right to practice medicine. Should...

Does too much sun really cause Melanoma?

Well here's an interesting article... I think I may just go out and get myself some more sun... maybe stick more to the shade at midday though... http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2008/08/05/does-too-much-sun-really-cause-melanoma.aspx?source=nl
