The Book

It turns out that the title The Passage was also taken so the book will be known as Be Not Afraid. I liked that, because it is something Jesus said, from the Gospel of Saint Luke, cited in the book. The verse itself pretty much sums up the book:
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but after that can do no more. I shall show you whom to fear. Be afraid of the one who after killing has the power to cast into Gehenna; yes I tell you, be afraid of that one.
Those are also the first words that Pope John Paul II chose to speak, when he became pope. "Do not be afraid." I think I am ready to hand in my final draft. I've gone through it and changed things I didn't like and I don't think there is much more to change anymore.

Thought this passage was interesting

This is today's reading, from the book of Judges, 9, 6-15. I thought it was an interesting story. I think I should probably go and read it in context, then maybe I'd understand what it is alluding to better... I must have read it before, but I don't remember it at all. Just thought I'd share here:
Then all the citizens of Shechem and all Beth-millo came together and proceeded to make Abimelech king by the terebinth at the memorial pillar in Shechem. When this was reported to him, Jotham went to the top of Mount Gerizim, and standing there, cried out to them in a loud voice: "Hear me, citizens of Shechem, that God may then hear you! Once the trees went to anoint a king over themselves. So they said to the olive tree, 'Reign over us.' But the olive tree answered them, 'Must I give up my rich oil, whereby men and gods are honored, and go to wave over the trees?' Then the trees said to the fig tree, 'Come; you reign over us!' But the fig tree answered them, 'Must I give up my sweetness and my good fruit, and go to wave over the trees?' Then the trees said to the vine, 'Come you, and reign over us.' But the vine answered them, 'Must I give up my wine that cheers gods and men, and go to wave over the trees?' Then all the trees said to the buckthorn, 'Come; you reign over us!' But the buckthorn replied to the trees, 'If you wish to anoint me king over you in good faith, come and take refuge in my shadow. Otherwise, let fire come from the buckthorn and devour the cedars of Lebanon.'

Tentative Title: The Passage... or something with the word Passage in it.

For the cover I want something where you're speeding off into the distance. I used my own pictures (which I don't really want to use) to get an idea of what it could look like. Imagine a desert mountain scene instead...

Perhaps a bit more black and a bit less green in the landscape.... will fool around with that a bit more...

Now it is time to go to bed, because I am staying up waaaaaay too late fooling around on this...
